In additional to traditional therapy methods, Dr. Saeedvafa uses a number of different techniques to assist in the therapy sessions.
Emotionally Focused Therapy is a short term couple therapy process that fosters a secure bond between partners in their interactions with each other. EFT creates a shift in the partners’ interactions with each other by de-escalating the negative interactions and restructuring the emotional bonds between the partners.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing integrates elements of many effective psychotherapies in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. I have used EMDR therapy with success in treating: Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), rape recovery, abuse or neglect, abandonment experiences, marital betrayals, difficult divorces, excessive anger, rapid relief for anxiety, phobias and fears (such as public speaking, heights, dental work, stage fright and test-taking related anxiety).
Well recognized as an intervention of the mind and body, guided imagery is used to bring balance and peace during times of stress or difficulty. Our bodies release cortisol during times of stress. It is suggested that imagery may attenuate the effects of cortisol. Whereas the physiologic effects of cortisol are beneficial in acute situations, it’s chronic release is sometimes detrimental and known to delay tissue repair and impair the immune system.
